Dear Friends of Jake's Place:

9 years ago, I set out to create a place for myself, to showcase my passion for guys in sneakers and bondage. The result was, with your help, a place for many of us to visit and to feel a connection with our fetishes. A place to meet others, and a place that, most importantly, proved we are not alone with these feelings - there are others in the world who feel the same way we do – a lot of us. This was that place.

Over the past few years though, my own passion has eroded and I've found myself unable to continue with maintaining my personal corner of the fetish world. I no longer experience the fun and happiness I used to feel when building this site, contributing countless hours doing photos, managing posts, and constantly improving it. I kept hoping, that the inspiration would return, but it hasn't, and while I've avoided facing it, the time has come for me to close Jake's Place, as to do nothing would erode its legacy for those of you who remember it when it was active and alive, which I don't want to see happen.

Its with a feeling of sadness that I close Jake's Place, as its been an amazing experience, like any journey, it came with its share of bumps, but the rewards outweigh them. I feel honored and lucky to have managed to inspire so many of you, to pursue your own fetishes and to feel accepted, that having a sneaker fetish does not make you a freak, even though for many of you I've never personally spoken to you, not even a casual email. I didn't think that simply expressing myself would have that type of impact on anybody, not in what most people seem to consider as anonymous of a communication medium as this. It just goes to show that our actions can matter, even if we don't expect it.

As for myself, closing Jake's Place doesn't mean I'm going away forever, I'm always looking for new opportunities, so with the closing of something old, gives room for something new. We'll just have to see what that will look like.

In closing, I'd like to thank all of you for your support, without which Jake's Place wouldn't have been the same, and to wish you all well in the future.

Jake Wolf

More auctions and site stuff…

Seems like lately, I only post here when I have new things to sell, which isn't really my intention, but it is true. Time is a tricky thing, and I haven't had much in the way of time to dedicate to this website, and don't really know when I will again. Its a sad state of affairs, but I figure being honest about it is probably about as good as I can do.

For more entertaining things, I've been posting videos to YouTube on my channel there... There's been 11 in the last couple of months, featuring my various Nikes and boots and some I've borrowed from others, so check it out. I also have a photostream on flickr full of my latest photographic endeavors, featuring my own and other guys sneaks and boots...

My current project is to sell off a bunch of sneakers and boots that my boyfriend and I no longer have room for and don't wear enough... Over the next few weeks I plan on having more...
Updates...

Well, it has been awhile since there's been any activity around here, its been a long and busy summer for me. Hopefully soon things will settle down and I can finally finish the new galleries for this site and post something around here.

That said, I have migrated the stories to the new site, the add a story feature does not yet work as its waiting on the new gallery to be finalized, galleries and stories are more closely integrated in JP5 than the old site. Notable new features is the ability to browse by author, for stories that have been migrated to the new format. (Currently that's only mine, but more works/authors should be available soon.)

Other news, after almost 18 months in a limbo state, I've decided to take down the archive site, regardless of whether or not the current website is fully migrated. Its just too much work to maintain both versions of the website, and I haven't been able to really keep up with what goes on on the archive site. I'll be keeping the data though, and the galleries *will* be migrated to the new site once the new gallery is up and running. (I've already made some progress, but its not done yet.. just need some time...) So shortly, you'll be greeted with a message telling you its closed and redirecting you back here to JP5.

Not website related, but I'm again selling a couple pairs of shoes... which you can see below... Check out my listings on ebay...or click the photo below to see the auction. They end next week.

Thanks again guys

-- Jake

move. I know the site was down for several days, as I got sick right after moving and wasn't able to get things set up as I wanted.

Oh, and important to note, this Tuesday, July 8th, the site will be down for several hours while I rebuild the server that hosts it and move the equipment into a cooler case and finalize its new home. After that, I hope to finally get back to developing the new gallery for JP5 and other fun stuff.

Long before I started doing any photos on this site, I did videos, they were quite a bit of fun, just me, a few pair of sneaks, and a webcam. I didn't own a digital camera then and they were the best way to show myself and what I liked to do. So it makes sense that the videos would be the first thing I put back. I've wanted to get back into doing videos for awhlie, even before things like youtube have recently gotten so popular. So, today I posted my first new video, "New Balance 83 @ The River" both to this website and to my new YouTube channel. Its in similar style as alot of my original videos. Along with the new video, I've also, with the encouragement of a friend reminding me, put a couple of the videos that used to be here that I removed awhile ago, back. Hope you guys enjoy.

A New Year... A New Website...

After lots of debate about what to do with this website. Today I've made a decision, and you're looking at it. Currently it probably doesn't seem like much. This, is Jake's Place version 5, the 5th edition of my homepage. I decided to go ahead and push a fairly stripped down early version today, as its January 1st, the beginning of a new year. What better time to make a clean break and design something new?

Over the next few weeks, I'll begin the more extensive work on the new website, including the new galleries system. As each feature is completed it will be available immediately. So look out for changes. Currently, my new gear list is online as well as my recently migrated blog, and the photo of the day feature, which I'll be updating daily with some of my favorite photos over the next few weeks.

The previous website and all the photos, etc, is still available, at http://archive.jakessneaks.net/. It doesn't allow new galleries to be posted, though the gallery commenting system is still enabled.

To all you guys who've been visitors of this site, Happy New Year, and here's to a great 2008.

My Place...

I realize I've been 'gone' from the website for quite awhile now, and while it continued to grow, the website has lost its way. 5 years ago, when I started this site, it was quite personal to me, it represented me, Jake. It didn't consist of much, mostly images I'd come across as a fellow surfer for photos that turned me on. With a few, poor-quality by my standards now, attempts at personal content, but it was the best I could do at the time. That was my goal, to do the best I could do, to hopefully meet other guys into some of these things and above all, for it to be a fun experience. Which, apart from a few events I'd rather never happened, it has been. Though, as they say, with success comes a price, and for me, that price, was over time, caring more about trying to please my audience than what I actually wanted, the website, as well as myself, lost its personalness. It became more difficult to maintain the site, and my desire to keep it up, waned.

I never have announced here, what happened that really led to me taking a break though. On Tuesday, July 27, 2004, my dad died from lung cancer, after having been diagnosed with it for only a couple of months. I never announced it here, because at the time, the site was so impersonal to me, that I felt like it wasn't appropriate to announce here. Much like my blog, is hosted as a separate website, because I felt like nobody that came here was interested in knowing anything about my day-to-day life, I pushed myself off into a little corner of the site.

For awhile after he died, it felt good to have a distraction, and to try to focus on this site, and other projects I was working on at the time, almost completely, completely blocking out the desire problems that had been bothering me before, but, after some other complications, part with friends, part with another project, and the rest, I don't really know what caused, the website no longer served as a good distraction. I felt that the photos I had produced had started to suck, that I was more of a hamster on a wheel in a loop than somebody who truly wanted to be doing this. So, with very little notice to anybody, I wrote my 'Taking a Break' blog post and quit. Thinking that a little time would give me some much needed direction. It did help, but I found that the space had a side-effect, the website, while never being forgotten, became foreign and unfamiliar to me. Each time I sat down to try to work on it, it felt more like I was trying to squeeze a hexagon-shaped peg into a square, or even triangular hole, similar, but incompatible. It simply, didn't feel like mine anymore, more mechanical than personal, and twisted with the desires of a bunch of different guys. Eventually, last summer I think it was, I considered simply giving it up, and shutting it down, but I couldn't. I didn't really want to, despite the frustration that the deadlock I was in with it was causing. Even more recently, when keeping it hosted and online became difficult for me, I didn't want to just shut it down.

The important part of all this, is that I have changed, developed new interests, become a bit of a different person, and I want to bring the website back into my life, but its not that easy. I have to roll back a lot of clutter in my head, that separates me now from the boy I was who designed it originally, then bring that boy forward, so the site again is as personal to me now, as it was to me then. I have taken, what I hope is, the first step. My blog, which you're currently reading, is now a part of JakesSneaks.net, and not some subsection kept away where nobody will see it. I haven't decided yet, what further steps I plan to take, whether I plan to tear most of the website down and start over, rebuilding it from scratch or go through every page, photo and story and renovate it. Whichever method I end up choosing, the end result must be, a JakesSneaks.net that's truly my place again.

New toys...

Its time for a collection update. :-) For those of you who've seen my full sneak collection page, you'd probably noticed that the last new pair was almost a year ago. (Nike Shox Monster on December 7, 2004). I'd been kinda laying off buying new sneaks for awhile, still am, actually. These are gifts from a couple of special guys, who know who they are. (Thanks again for these, guys. :-) )

Nike Shox Turb Oz

These are the first new ones I got, they're very hot looking and I love wearing them, they're very comfortable. My favorite part is the heel of the shoe, with the black contrasted by the bright yellow shox columns.

Nike Air Coupe 2

These haven't gotten much wear yet, a few times so far, I like these much better than I liked the first Coupe. They feel good to wear and are fun to lick on too. I don't really have a favorite part yet. Though I love the second photo of the soles there.

Nike Impax TR2

I've worn these the 2nd most of the new ones (Shox Oz are the most.). I'm liking them alot, the all leather toes look very hot as they get softer and flex. My favorite part is definitely the heel and how hot they look on me.

Nike Air Max Plus

These I haven't worn outside yet, only indoors. They're *so* light, its amazing. I've wanted a pair of these for along time. (still want them in the original Hyper Blue, too.) I've played with these alot since getting them. I couldn't pick if I liked them better with jeans, socks or no-socks so these get 3 sample photos of all 3 ways. My favorite part is the whole shoe.

Happy Thanksgiving, a bit early, since I probably won't post again before then. :-)
Let me know what you guys think of the pics too. :-)

Wow.. Rudeness...

Usually I enjoy hearing from visitors to my site. Really I do. Though I'm always behind on e-mail, not because I get too much, but because I'm a bit lazy about writing back. :-/

Then there's things like this.. (which came in via the Request a Photoset form...)
"NOT A REQUEST. WERE THE HELL ARE YOU! UPDATE YOUR SITE. DONT START SOMETHING AND NOT FALLOW THREW. DONT BE LIKE SOME OTHER SITES FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED. THANK YOU"

Well, first off, I'm right here. :-) Now, ignoring for a moment that this is pretty much a rude demand, (all-caps usually equalling shouting around the internets, after all.) I'll focus on the line "finish what you started".
Since JakesSneaks.net isn't a commercial website, but rather a personal site, wouldn't I be the only one who'd know what I started and where "finshed" is? Those are ideas that exist solely in my head. And guess what? For the last several months, I haven't updated the site, because I don't really have any ideas for what to do with it. I don't consider it finished, but I feel that, as I've done several times before, that JS.net needs to evolve, before I can continue updating it. Doing the same thing over and over again, gets old, and isn't what I try to do here. If I did that it'd end up being something like this:
For X pairs of shoes and Y ideas, do until complete. Not very creative. So if, for example, I had roughly 8 unique ideas, and repeated them over 20 pairs of shoes, then you'd still only have 8 ideas. but in 160 photosets. Which would all look alike. I don't want to do that. I'm also not in this to do X arbitary ideas that I don't find interesting. There are some types of content you just won't see here, currently, the types of stuff I do and won't post are not defined lists, I plan to roughly outline them in the future. Never set in stone, of course, because I find new stuff that interests me all the time. Some stuff I don't show here, and i'm considering trying to work out how to show it. Its all kind of up in the air right now though.

Of course, the quickest way to get me motiviated to work on all this is to be demanding and rude. After all, i'm only here to do your bidding, right? </sarcasm>
Seriously, it seems like only in the anonymity of the internet, are people rudely demanding without considering that behind things are real people, with real lives, and real problems... If you did that in the real world, you'd expect to be told to fuck off. (after all, its like walking up to a stranger on the street. and yelling at them. heh)

I just don't get rude people...

Alot of you probably already know by now, that BondageFreax, the bondage site I hosted for a couple of guys in Germany into bondage, is offline, and has been since August 17.

BondageFreax was taken down because the guys who run it, don't have the time to keep it up anymore, along with some other personal reasons. The video clips that they produced that were in JakesSneaks.net's video area have also been taken down.

Good luck in the future guys, and thanks for sharing your bondage interests with us.
